Request it - Gas Safety Check

SHP is responsible for making sure all of the properties we manage are safe and secure. Every year we carry out a gas safety check to make sure the property is safe and installations are working correctly.

To arrange a gas safety check, call 0800 389 0867 or 020 8722 3425 (Smith and Byfords)

If you smell gas, call National Grid  on 0800 111 999 immediately and:

  • Leave the property

  • Do not smoke or light a match

  • Do not turn light switches on or off

  • Do not do anything to create a spark

 

Request it

When you arrange an inspection you will need to tell us:

  • who is requesting the inspection

  • where the inspection is

  • how we can contact that person requesting the check.

 

Attend

Smith and Byfords will make an appointment with you when you make contact. Appointments are offered Monday to Friday:

  • 8am -10am
  • 10am - 12 noon
  • 12noon - 3pm
  • 3pm - 5pm

Smith and Byford also offer appointments out of office hours.

 

Check

Smith and Byfords will attend the agreed appointment and do the inspection. They will let you know when they are on route to the appointment.

If they cannot access the property they will contact you. If they cannot contact you they will leave a card asking you to make contact to rearrange.

 

Things to keep in mind

  • we may take legal action if we cannot get access to your home

  • you could end up in court if you don’t give us access

  • you may have to pay our legal costs if we have to go to court
