Our Board
We have a Board of Directors comprising eleven members: Four independents, four council nominated members from the main political parties and three residents (One tenant and two leaseholders).
Our board’s responsibilities are to:
- guide strategic direction in line with Management Agreement
- scrutinise and monitor performance
- approve budgets
- agree policies and make financial decisions
- ensure that SHP is run lawfully and ethically
The Board has adopted a Code of Governance which sets out the principles that underpin good governance and, through our policies, explain how we put these principles into practice. You can read SHP's Code of Governance here.
Our Board meetings are open to the public and you can either join in person, via Google Meets or via telephone. Please visit our Board page for meeting dates and information packs. If you would like any further information on our Board meetings or if you would like to attend, please contact us.
As part of our Board Succession Policy 2024.pdf [pdf] 260KB, we are looking for individuals who share our ambitions and commitment to social housing and are currently looking to appoint a Non-Executive Board Member. For more information, please refer to our Recruitment Pack 2025.pdf [pdf] 2MB
SHP's governance structure also includes two committee meetings. The Audit & Risk Committee and Performance Committee meetings, of which our board members attend to scrutinise and monitor SHP's key services. Whilst Audit & Risk Committee meetings are not open to the public, our Performance Committee encourages and welcomes attendees.
