Our Board

We have a Board of Directors comprising ten members: three residents (One tenants and two leaseholder), four independents, and three council nominees from the main political parties.

Our board’s responsibilities are to:

  • guide strategic direction in line with Management Agreement
  • scrutinise and monitor performance
  • approve budgets
  • agree policies and make financial decisions
  • ensure that SHP is run lawfully and ethically

The Board has adopted a Code of Governance which sets out the principles that underpin good governance and, through our policies, explain how we put these principles into practice. You can read SHP's Code of Governance here.

Board meetings remain open to the public, and you may join via Google Meets or telephone. Please contact us if you would like to attend.

As part of our Board Succession Policy.pdf [pdf] 162KB, we are looking for individuals who share our ambitions and commitment to social housing. We are currently looking to appoint an Independent Board Member and up to three Resident Board Members.  Please visit the following page for more information on the role and how to apply. 

SHP's governance structure also includes two committee meetings. The Audit & Risk Committee and Performance Committee meetings, of which our board members attend to scrutinise and monitor SHP's key services.  Whilst Audit & Risk Committee meetings are not open to the public, our Performance Committee encourages and welcomes attendees. Our Leadership Team

Our leadership team are responsible for the day to day leadership and management of SHP.

Steve Tucker
Steve Tucker - Managing Director

Steve is the former Director of Housing at London Borough of Hackney and became the first Chief Executive of Hackney Homes in 2005. Steve led on the housing stock transfer from Wycombe District Council to Red Kite, and more recently was Corporate Director of Housing at Barking and Dagenham from 2014 to 2016.

Steve is a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and has led for CIH on two recent national projects involving landlords from across the country on innovation and best practice in repairs and maintenance. 

Steve is committed to modernising housing management at SHP and delivering effective resident facing services through integrated place based teams and generic working that promotes successful households - the SHP New Deal. This is also designed to make a career in housing appeal to bright and talented people as well as enriching the user experience and winning the trust and confidence of residents.

Catherine Charlton
Catherine Charlton - Operations Director

Catherine joined SHP from Enfield Council, where she was Head of Housing Operations and was responsible for leading significant improvements in key areas of business. 

Since joining SHP Catherine has developed a three year programme to support the SHP New Deal - bringing a strong resident, commercial and value for money focus to the programme. As well as leading our Operations Directorate, Catherine is working closely with colleagues from key partner organisations to support service delivery and outcomes for residents.

Sue Hogg - Finance and Corporate Services Director

Sue has worked in local government finance for nearly 30 years and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Financial Accountants (CIPFA). 

Sue previously worked for the London Borough of Sutton for 17 years as the Head of Business Advice and Support and the Head of Financial Strategy and Reporting, More recently she worked at Tandridge District Council as the Head of Finance and statutory S151 Officer.

Sue is committed to delivering a robust medium term financial strategy with a strong focus on value for money, leading the Corporate Services Directorate to support the delivery of the SHP New Deal and embedding the SHP HOME values across the organisation.
