Young people

We want to make sure our younger residents, aged 25 and under, are able to access a range of services and support so they can achieve all they can and make a difference to their communities. This includes initiatives related to employment and training, active citizenship and physical activity.

Opportunities for young residents

Taking part in the NCS summer programme:

Young residents can sign up for the NCS summer experience programme, which is designed specifically for 16-17-year-olds.

The NCS summer programme will take place in summer for two weeks and involve young people taking part in a range of activities that will challenge them and give them opportunities to increase their life skills.

The summer experience programme is free for SHP residents.

Skateboarding sessions

photo of a skateboarder We want to encourage young SHP residents to get more active in their local area.

As part of this, in summer 2022 we are working in partnership with the Riverside Centre, London Sport and Harris Academy Sutton, to run weekly skateboarding sessions for young people.

These sessions will primarily involve young people who live in Shanklin Village but could be broadened out to other SHP neighbourhoods at a later stage.

All appropriate equipment will be provided in the weekly sessions.
