SHP Staff partake in a sponsored walk for Sutton Women's Centre

On Wednesday 29 November Sutton Housing Partnership (SHP) staff completed a 2.8 mile group walk as part of our sponsored walk for the 16 Days of Action Against Gender Based Violence global campaign. The 104-mile combined walk, represents the 104 women killed each year by a partner or ex-partner in England and Wales. During this global campaign we aim to raise £500 for Sutton Women's Centre. The centre specialises in supporting survivors of domestic and sexual abuse through training aimed at recognising abuse, a food bank, well-being workshops and long-term counselling.

We are pleased to announce that we have already hit our 104 mile target by day 5 and we are currently at 128.3 miles! We are going to keep pushing on as a team to see how many miles we can hit within the 16 days. We started our walk at Sutton Gate, went through Manor Park and headed to Sutton Women's Centre, then through the highstreet to The Sound Lounge. We then walked to The Dolphin - Lighthouse Project and Limes College - a venue which holds multiple support programmes for young children. We ended up at Sutton Baptist Church which is the location of Sutton's One Stop Shop - a free drop-in service for people experiencing domestic violence in Sutton offering advice and support from a range of professionals (including an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA), police, Citizens Advice Bureau and a solicitor).
